AltspaceVR App Aims to Make it Easier to Connect in VRIf Facebook CEO Mark Zuckberg is ultimately proven correct in his recent estimation that virtual reality will one day dominate all forms of social communication, the team at AltspaceVR is already well ahead of the coming trend.

This week, AltspaceVR today unveiled a new mobile app that makes connecting with friends and sharing experiences in virtual reality “as easy as sending a text message.”

So how does it work?

Users download the app from Google Play and use the VR Call feature with their favorite social network, email or sharing app to invite others and be together immediately at a public event or in a private space in AltspaceVR.

“VR Call is a quick and easy way to be together with anyone in VR,” Eric Romo, CEO of AltspaceVR, tells us. “People use their phones to text, talk or video chat, and now they can meet in VR just as spontaneously.”

The company says its mobile app featuring VR Call is available now (yes, it’s free) from the Google Play online store.

It works in full VR mode for Samsung Gear VR with all compatible Samsung devices (Galaxy Note 5, S6 edge+, S6, S6 edge, S7, and S7 edge).
